FREDERICKSBURG RACQUET CENTER
COMING FALL 2026
The Community Racquet Center Dream
The Fredericksburg Racquet Center is a new non-profit initiative involving the City of Fredericksburg, Fredericksburg Tennis Center Foundation, the Austin-based Fueling Tennis Futures Foundation, tennis and pickleball professionals, community leaders, and racquet sports enthusiasts. Discussions about a community racquet center began in the fall of 2023, following survey results from the City of Fredericksburg’s Parks Master Plan, which showed a strong need for more pickleball and tennis courts, as well as walking trails in our community.
For the racquet center project, the City has allocated 20 acres on Friendship Lane and envisions a central location, easily accessible for the growing local neighborhoods and the public middle and high school campuses.
We have a long-term lease agreement with the City of Fredericksburg for use of the property as a racquet facility. It will be a public access facility available for use by all Fredericksburg citizens. The racquet facility will be operated by a third party, RPM Academy, a Foundation-supported, experienced tennis and pickleball professional group relocating from Austin. The model is similar to the successful model used for Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course.
The racquet center will be a public access facility.
The racquet center will offer tennis and pickleball lessons, leagues, clinics, camps and tournaments. Affordable memberships and daily court fees will ensure the facility remains accessible while serving the entire Hill Country region. Free monthly junior clinics are also planned to expand access, remove barriers to participation, and encourage youth involvement in the lifelong sports of tennis and pickleball. Proceeds from the tournaments and events will go toward junior player development scholarships and improving racquet sports in our community.
The team behind the community racquet center project brings together many years of experience in playing and instructing tennis and pickleball, fueled by a shared passion for these sports. Many of us grew up with racquet sports and have raised young athletes, witnessing firsthand the valuable life lessons it imparts—discipline, resilience, focus, self-confidence and stress relief. We chose this project because our community needs greater access to recreational spaces, and we believe sport has the power to transform lives. We are committed to making racquet sports more accessible to everyone in our town, especially the youth.
We are proud to carry forward the rich legacy of tennis in the Texas Hill Country, creating a welcoming place for people of all ages and backgrounds—a place where passion grows, friendships flourish, and champions—on and off the court—are made. Racquet sports inspire healthy living, cultivate meaningful connections, and empower the next generation with confidence, character, and opportunity.
The Fredericksburg Racquet Center Project is an ideal example of a grassroots community effort, bringing together skills, talents and a passion for the betterment of the town we love. The Fredericksburg Racquet Center will make a lasting, positive impact on the health and wellness of our community for generations to come.
Join us in rallying for our community, for our kids and for our future! Help us make the racquet center a reality!
